Our Mission
Harari Heritage Association is an organization of Ethiopian Hararis in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area unified to promote and strengthen our culture through a network of community leaders, gatherings, training events and resources.
To enable this to happen, there are people and cross-generational teams throughout our area pushing this common vision. All this requires commitment, investment, time, and application of each of our varied knowledge and skills.
What We Believe
HHA is a nonprofit organization committed to facilitate different events to cater to the individual & professional development of the members of the Harari community from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. The different cultural, educational, humanitarian, social, and sports activities throughout the year provide all with the opportunity to enable diverse individualities to share a strong bond rooted in common heritage.
Every two years a new committee is formed through fair elections. Currently, we are working to:
- Host various events to bring Hararis together.
- Grow youth involvement & programs.
- Provide a helping hand to the community through involvement in programs for humanitarian causes.

I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke and I saw that life is all service. I served and I saw that service is joy.
If we know where we came from, we may better know where to go. If we know who we came from, we may better understand who we are.
So much of our future lies in preserving our past.
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
